Jam tomorrow!

Mahesh is making plum jam at the SLl office tomorrow – Saturday, 2nd August, 11am – 2pm at the West Earlham Community Centre (Click here for more info)


Bridget is running a chutney-making workshop next Saturday, 9th August, 10am – 1pm
We’ll use plums from the allotment to make chutney to raise funds for GO2.
It may not be too late to take part in either or both of these workshops, so email us asap.

Jars needed

We still need jam jars, with lids, clean and with labels removed, for our jams and chutneys. The 300ml (1lb) size, or thereabouts, is the most useful.
Please leave in the big shed.

Are you interested in the cultivation and uses of herbs?  Join Bridget at 12.00 this Sunday 3rd August, in the picnic area under the apple tree to talk about being part of a group focused on herbs.

First Sunday Food

August is almost here! What happened to July? It went far too quickly. Hope to see as many as possible for shared food lunch this Sunday (3rd Aug) at 1pm.

If you haven’t been before then don’t be shy! Come & say ‘hi’ & meet other plot holders.

The scheme is about connecting with others as well as sharing our knowledge & friendship. You’ll be most welcome. If you are able to then please bring something to share that used vegs/fruits from your plots (plum cake anyone?).

See you on Sunday. Finally, a little favour to ask of everyone; if you are passing the herb sinks nr the toilet block then please pull out any weeds & water the herbs if they look thirsty.

Janet Johnson, a keen gardener, attended a herb session led by Dano & this is what she said about it:

“Another excellent training session on the allotment. About eight of us were there and we learned how to take cuttings and pot up herbs, including some rarities. The session was very interesting, and enjoyable, sharing Dano’s expertise and knowledge and meeting some growers who were new to me – so very practical and sociable. It was a hands on session I wasn’t really able to take notes! I have a good variety of herbs on my allotment but I learned several new things which I will put into practice. If anyone wants a cutting from my French tarragon plant, just ask …”


Janet has mislaid her food container which she describes as a large mottled grey plastic round container, diameter 11 inches or 28 cm, 4 inches deep or 10 cm, with an opaque flexible lid. She points out she used it to bring food to Food Share. She has another container but she can’t bring as much as when she had two!
