Moira will be at the Shed on Saturday morning from 11am if you would like to leave anything.
The Food Team will be getting things ready on Sunday morning from 10.45 and any offers of help on the day would be very welcome. Moira can be contacted through the newsletter or

Just an idea…

If we ever get pallets we usually use them to make the sides of compost heaps, but this idea from Eddie has potential, he saw it on FaceBook.
Pleban's PalletI googled “pallet vegetable growing” and got half a million interesting ideas!
I suspect that the slugs and snails would like this one, as they can hide out of sight very conveniently.
One idea I saw suggested planting the pallet horizontally and setting it on edge as a living wall once the plants were established, but this would probably not do for the brassicas in Eddie’s picture.

The Marlpit Arms Preview

The Marlpit Public House in April 2015 – EDP

We spent the morning of Saturday 19th September 2015 at Marlpit Community Centre, where we labelled chutney and jams and cooked vegetarian curries to take in the afternoon to The Marlpit Arms Preview with The Friends of The Marlpit. We distributed leaflets and talked to people, explaining the aims of Marlpit Community Garden and SLI. The interest they expressed was encouraging and we hope to gain new members.

These Marlpit Pub Preview Day activities by the Food Team and their supporters also made SLI some income to help offset expenses

Don’t Get Locked IN!

At Bluebell South Allotments, the gates are often now locked during the day – we don’t know by whom, or why, and we recommend that everyone in GO2 has a key to the main gate. This is needed to unlock and lock the padlock.
Apparently the Allotment Officer has told Council plot-holders to keep the gate locked at all times. We can’t stop other plot-holders locking the gate – so the only answer is for all of us to have a key. If you ask for one when you meet an Admin Team member, they’ll arrange for you to be given a key for a deposit of £5.

Bluebell Bus Transport

firstgroup_logoFor users of the 26/27:- Firstbus have announced that the buses on the UEA/hospital routes should be back to normal from Saturday 14th September and new timetables will operate from Sunday 20th September (they do this at the start of every academic year, just to check we are all paying attention!).

Open Day, Sunday 4 October, 12 – 4 pm.

We need help with publicity, setting up (from 11 am), showing visitors round, and taking renewals and money from sales of jam etc. Let us know if you can do any of these things by emailing and do tell your friends and family or print and display the poster. In communal areas and sheds before the day – if you see anything untidy, please tidy it!

There are a few things that need to be done, and if you are attending the open day, I’d be happy to show you what these things are. Also, I’ll answer any queries you might have about making or using compost (as best I can!)

If you have any queries in the meantime,  please feel free to contact me on
