Volunteering with SLI
The volunteering scheme is aimed at those who are committed to the broader objectives of Sustainable Living Initiative and are interested in collective practical action. It provides an opportunity to learn gardening skills, meet like-minded people, work collectively and get fresh produce from the allotment free of charge in return for help. Regular volunteers with satisfactory performance will be offered SLI membership free of charge after three months of joining the scheme.
Since spring 2014, GO2 Marlpit has been running volunteering mornings on Tuesdays (10am to 1 pm) at Marlpit Community Garden. These sessions have many benefits: some of our volunteers have been out of work for a long time and their skills and confidence are helped while they carry out essential gardening tasks and enjoy each other’s company. Volunteers get a free lunch and seasonal produce to take home in return for their help. Anyone is welcome to join without any long-term commitment or any particular skills. If you want to learn basic skills in gardening and conservation, make new friends or you already have skills that you’d like to offer, please get in touch or fill in the Application Form.
